Vitral's rooflights and roof glazing systems are able to achieve the industry's lowest U-values due to the focus on their construction.

Vitral achieves an overall system U-value of lower than 1.6W/m2K.  This figure includes the glass, with it's mid pane U-value of 1.1W/m2K, and the frame of the Vitral sytem, plus the head and cill detail.

This is only possible due to the thermal efficiency of the frame.  Other systems focus entirelly on the U-value of the glass, or the mid pane value itself but these do not give an accurate figure for the thermal performance of the roof glazing.

All systems by any manufacturer suffer the same effect, the frame is always the least effective compenent of any roof glazing system.  So the more thermally efficient the frame is, the better the overall U-vlaue will be.  It does not matter wether the frame is thermally broken or not, this is just a description of the frame itself, it is only the calculated and proven U-value that matters.

Both the A74, which is thermally broken, and the VRS, which is thermally managed, can achieve U-values to 1.5w/m2K with double glazing and 1.1W/m2K with triple glazing.

We carry out U-vlaue calculations for every project to ensure your building passes and exceeds Part L Building Regulations which currently recommend an overall U-vlaue of 1.8W/m2K
