Design, performancereputation or support, take your pick, but these are the reasons why Vitral is specified by Architects again and again.

No other roofglazing is designed in the same way and no other roofglazing system performs to the level that Vitral's systems do.

Design

Whether you choose Vitral's bespoke roofglazing system for a mono pitch rooflight or a large atrium, or one of the Skyvision flat rooflights for a school or a home, Vitral has designed them to have minimal impact on the design of the building yet allow the maximum amount of light into the building possible.  The bespoke roofglazing systems have very narrow sightlines but also shallow profiles so that from any viewpoint the building occupant sees as little frame as possible, ensuring its the sky that is the focus, not bulky metal framing.

breeamPerformance

Whether the building needs to pass Part L, achieve a BREEAM rating or met the PasivHaus design criteria, Vitral's roofglazing systems always meet and exceed the demands of these benchmarks.  Vitral carries out hot box testing for all our systems so we can guarantee our U-value performance.  In fact we provide U-value calculations for every project. Our airtightness again is unrivalled and we can prove our system's performance so where PassiveHaus design principles need to control ventilation, retain heat and manage the internal environment, no other roofglazing system provides the control and efficiency that Vitral can.

cabeReputation

Once specified and installed a building becomes the reality and any architect wants it to meet the client's expectations and to meet the design aims that they had foreseen.  When a building is assessed these expectations and aims are put to one side and a critical view is taken by an independant body. If published this opnion can elevate an architect's reputation and Vitral is consistenly highlighted as positive elements of a building where these assesments have taken place.  CABE is the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment and advise on well-designed buildings, places and spaces.  They recently published a report entitled "Picturing school design: a visual guide to secondary school ..." in which Vitral is proud to have been included where schools were highlighted to have incorporated good design principles and were applauded.  The full report can be accessed here from the CABE website and a reduced version is available here showing the schools that include Vitral.

Support

Vitral has two key resources for support, our own expertise and the knowledge from our Trained Approved Specialist Contractors.  We know how good our systems are and how to get the best from them.  Our installers have the geographic coverage, financial standing and project knowledge to know how to integrate Vitral's products into a building.  From specification, to design, to tendering, to contractor support, to installation and then to maintenance, Vitral has in place the people, resources and knowledge to be able to answer any question, promptly and to make sure your projects get the best performing, most efficient roofglazing system available.

Contact your Regional Vitral Design Consultant to get the information and support you need to design the right solution for you and to assist you in progressing to the installation stage.

J Andrew Lester - Partner - Aitken Turnbull

“We looked at several roof glazing systems. The VITRAL system stood out from its competitors. Offering clean lines, the unique system has integrated opening panels without the need for additional frames. It also required no additional supporting structure.”

Scott Hills - Project Architect - White-Design

“VITRAL was selected due to the slender frames and opening panels of the rooflights, which were positioned on the central ridge to allow natural daylight to flood into the atrium space. The vertical light source from the roof meets the south facing source and joins to provide the entire building with natural daylight. “

Giovanni Bonfanti - Associate Architect - Walters and Cohen

"Driven by environmental issues, natural light and ventilation were very important in our design. With a clear and clean design, VITRAL roof glazing has opening panels without extra frames; this maximises the above requirement. The system was therefore fundamental in our design from the initial concept."

Andrew Yeats – Principal Architect – Eco Arc

“The VITRAL roof glazing system mirrors the historic images of clerestory glazing as used in the original weaving shed building. The system is excellent and the refined modular design reduces sight lines. It is both practical and in keeping with this fantastic conservation project.”
