Swimming pools

Many public swimming pools use roof lights as a source of natural light

However, in chlorinated swimming pools (and that means the large majority of all pools) it is extremely important to take into account the potentially dangerous effect of the high concentration of airborne chlorine molecules.
Chlorine can cause two things: Stress corrosion in steel and galvanic corrosion (acting as an electrolyte) where steel and aluminium work together.
In collaboration with Force Institute (an accredited technology institute in Denmark) Vitral have developed a solution, which secures the normal 30+ years of life expectancy for roof lights – also when installed over a swimming pool. The solution involves special pre-treatment of the stainless steel parts in the roof light.
