About Vitral Company

Human happiness and well-being are the basis of our work at Vitral. We believe that natural light promotes people’s well-being, indoors as well as out. The requirement for our glass roof systems has always been that they must make elegant use of natural light in the best possible way to help people live and work in the buildings.

Since 1955, we have increased human well-being in factories, created new life in hospitals and glass roof system buildings, improved conditions in shopping centres, and promoted children’s learning in schools. Vitral has one of the most energy-saving glass roof systems on the market today, creating a good indoor climate and framework for children and adults to flourish. Our bespoke and prefabricated rooflights have the lowest possible and unrivalled u-values. Using efficient products to reduce energy consumption is how buildings become cheaper to run, and environmentally friendly.

Part L compliance exisits to ensure that heat loss is minimised through rooflights but there is a very visual indicator to inefficient rooflights, condensation! Vitrals rooflights exceed Part L, we keep the heat in, reduce your energy consumption and we think we manufacture the best looking rooflights available! No condensation with a Vitral rooflight.

In fact, unlike many manufacturers, we can prove our u-value performance and so the compliance with Part L. We have tested our rooflights in hot box environments and we know how effcient our rooflights are. If you choose a bespoke rooflight from Vitral we will even undertake a u-value calculation specifically for the project, again proving the systems efficiency and ensuring that the building can then have the correct HVAC specifications.

Whether the building is for used for commercial, educational, healthcare or residential purposes, Vitral's sloped glazing and rooflight systems take advantage of natural resources whilst maintaining the efficiency required to help create sustainable buildings.

Vitral is recognised in the rooflight industry for manufacturing rooflights that are thermally efficient, look good and are reliable. These are simple qualities for any building, why compromise?

J Andrew Lester - Partner - Aitken Turnbull

“We looked at several roof glazing systems. The VITRAL system stood out from its competitors. Offering clean lines, the unique system has integrated opening panels without the need for additional frames. It also required no additional supporting structure.”

Scott Hills - Project Architect - White-Design

“VITRAL was selected due to the slender frames and opening panels of the rooflights, which were positioned on the central ridge to allow natural daylight to flood into the atrium space. The vertical light source from the roof meets the south facing source and joins to provide the entire building with natural daylight. “

Giovanni Bonfanti - Associate Architect - Walters and Cohen

"Driven by environmental issues, natural light and ventilation were very important in our design. With a clear and clean design, VITRAL roof glazing has opening panels without extra frames; this maximises the above requirement. The system was therefore fundamental in our design from the initial concept."

Andrew Yeats – Principal Architect – Eco Arc

“The VITRAL roof glazing system mirrors the historic images of clerestory glazing as used in the original weaving shed building. The system is excellent and the refined modular design reduces sight lines. It is both practical and in keeping with this fantastic conservation project.”
